Our Curriculum and Activities

Infants

Infancy is a tender, remarkable time of growth and development in a child’s life. In our Bright Baby infant program, emphasis is placed on the child’s physical needs, such as feeding and diapering, as well as interpersonal interaction. Each infant classroom is designed to develop physical, emotional, social and cognitive skills for babies between the ages of six weeks and twelve months. Enrollment in the infant room may be extended based on a child’s developmental needs.

Toddlers 12-24 months

This program builds on the fine and gross motor skills being developed during the first year allowing for exploration and play in a safe, responsive setting.

Teachers listen attentively, talk through routines, and are sensitive to the types of activities that engage the child’s attention to cultivate new, complex thinking skills. Teachers work closely with families about developmental accomplishments and prepare daily progress reports.

“Ms. Hall is the best teacher that I’ve ever had the pleasure of knowing. She is patient and kind with her children, she loves to teach and it shows in her educational practices. She loves her students. She treats them like her own children. My son had her for Pre-K 3, and at the end of the year he was learning to read words in the form of sentences. I really, really, really hate it to see her go. I wished she had stayed on for my nieces and nephews as they came along. She is an awesome asset to any institution that she has any acquaintance with.” —Mrs. Deannbra Sharp

Preschoolers 4-5

Each room will have activities based on the age group, such as the reading nook, the Montessori station, and the imagination station. These activities include interactive and educational experiences to teach your child reading, writing, independence, and confidence. In the imagination station, children will interact with things like a kid’s full kitchen, toy appliances like a mixer and a blender, a laundry station, a cleaning cart, board games and much more.

Kids can relax and enjoy a book in the reading nook, and we will have a circle storytime. We will also have extracurricular lessons in Spanish, yoga, exercise and nutrition, gardening, music and dance, and STEM. We have two playgrounds, one for our infants and younger toddlers and one for our big kids. We will play outside every day that the weather permits.

“Hello! My name is Dashya McCuin. I met Ms. Hall, working my first teaching job and I realized early on that she was great at what she does!  She had also become my daughter, Cameron’s Pre-K 4 teacher during this time. I explained to her Cameron’s learning style, my concerns, and expectations for Cameron and she definitely exceeded those expectations! My daughter has always been smart, creative, and a natural leader. I can confidently say that Ms. Nickie enhanced those features and pushed Cameron everyday to be better and better! Cameron’s time in PreK-4 with Ms. Hall was definitely a great foundation. Cameron is now in Kindergarten and is excelling. She is writing, reading, doing addition problems, being a classroom leader, and so much more! Ms. Hall developed her own curriculum based on the child’s needs and her expectations for them and IT WORKED! I say with confidence that Ms. Hall is an amazing educator.”  —Dashya McCuin

Afterschoolers

Our After School Program for Young Achievers gives your child an opportunity to explore, discover, and achieve their greatest potential! Students have the freedom to make choices about the activities they engage in, whether it’s dramatic arts, construction, music, science discovery, creative expression, reading, homework, problem solving and games, or just relaxing, your Young Achiever will have the chance to explore one of their interests and talents in depth.

Helping Young Achievers achieve more.

H & H Fine Arts Academy’s After School Program creates students who achieve more, hence the name – Young Achievers! Here, your child will have the perfect opportunity to explore, discover, and achieve their greatest potential. We give students the freedom to participate in a number of activities that help build skills in language & literacy, social-emotional development, physical health and development, and S.T.E.A.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Math) curriculum-based problem solving and home economics (entrepreneurship).

To allow students to bridge the learning gaps that resulted from the COVID-19 pandemic, we also provide students with access to reading and math adaptive digital learning platforms.

Digital Learning Platforms

Access to our digital learning platforms gives students a unique path to meaningful achievement gains in mathematics and reading. Through engaging and interactive digital platforms, students are delivered the right level of education so that they are challenged but not overwhelmed by material that is too advanced.

Small-Group Learning Stations

Through the use of stations, students in our program have the opportunity to take ownership of their learning and play. In small groups, students are able to explore with their peers and build self-confidence.

S.T.E.A.M.

S.T.E.A.M. learning and play integrates science, technology, engineering, art, and math, promoting creativity and curiosity by bringing in personal expression, empathy, and purpose. Through hands-on projects, students engage both sides of their brains to solve problems and innovate, practicing analytical and creative thinking.

Social-Emotional Learning

Children thrive when they develop skills that allow them to interact broadly with the world. With intentional interactions with peers and adults, students are able to understand other peoples’ emotions, cultures, and perspectives.

Physical Health & Development

Regular physical activity promotes growth and development, keeping the body strong and healthy. Our indoor and outdoor games and activities are specially designed to stimulate teamwork while promoting gross motor skills.

Safety & Transportation

Safety is of the utmost importance – we care about your child’s safety as much as you do. That’s why we perform thorough background checks on all employees, electronically secure our buildings, and provide transportation – in fact, our buses are the only way to get into our schools.
